Magic Realism

Magic Realism, also called Magical Realism or Fantastic Realism, is used in both painting and literature. It is a direction in art in which an attempt is made to connect reality with another or higher reality, creating hallucinatory images or dream effects. Because of this, magical realism is related to surrealism, which also aims at alienating effects by placing more or less realistic representations in unusual contexts and environments.
